Tanzania has nine Water Basins. In each of them a Water Basin Office with a board is established.They are responsible to protect water resources and aim to guarantee water users equal access to water. In two of them GIZ has development advisors deployed to support the basin offices in their tasks, duties and responsibilities:
- Daniel Daeschle is working in the Lake Rukwa Basin Water Board. He focuses on the development of a communication strategy and aims to integrate the topic of climate change in the everyday work of the Basin Water Board.
- Rene Kaspar supports the Lake Nyasa Basin Water Board. He advises on the improvement of water monitoring and data analysis, a field he was working on over the last 4 years in the Federal Office for Environment in Switzerland.
